“Israel has confirmed it is resuming military operations in the Gaza strip after a 24-hour humanitarian ceasefire request was ignored by Hamas.
“Israel extended the 12-hour humanitarian ceasefire that took effect on Saturday in the Gaza Strip, but Hamas said it would only accept the truce if Israeli troops left the territory.
“Air raid sirens sounded in southern and central Israel just hours after the extension, warning of incoming rocket fire. Israeli media reported a couple of the rockets landed in open areas, while another was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defence system.
“Following Hamas’ incessant rocket fire throughout the humanitarian window, which was agreed upon for the welfare of the civilian population in Gaza, the (army) will now resume its aerial, naval and ground activity in the Gaza Strip,” a military statement said.” – YT
