“Kent’s commuters are being warned of major disruption to the London Underground this week – with two strikes set to cause chaos on the network.
“The dispute centres around jobs, pensions and conditions. Talks to avert the walk-outs, at conciliation service ACAS, broke down last week.

“RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “Our members will be taking strike action next week because a financial crisis at London Underground Ltd [the TfL subsidiary which operates the Tube network] has been deliberately engineered by the Government to drive a cuts agenda which would savage jobs, services, safety and threaten their working conditions and pensions.”
