“Police have revealed that the knife attack in Melbourne’s CBD on Friday afternoon which left one dead and two injured is currently being treated as an act of terror.
“The incident occurred in the late afternoon after a car burst into flames on Bourke Street a little after 4 pm.
“The 31-year-old knifeman stabbed three people. One unidentified man who was stabbed in the face died from the attack and two more men, aged 26 and 58, were rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
“It has been reported that the knifeman attempted to flee the scene on foot, then attacked the officers who pursued him. He was shot by police and later died in hospital.”
