It’s been quite a while since Spongebob Squarepants had new episodes on TV. After all, when you can still make money off re-runs, why make more?
As it turns out, there were some unreleased episodes that are finally being surfaced now in a five-part series on Nickelodeon for the next month or so.
I remember being very entertained by the early Spongebob episodes years ago. Even though I was much older than their target audience, there are a number of inside jokes that adults will get if they look closely enough.
These new episodes, on the other hand, were probably just throw-aways that got re-cut for distribution to make more money- much like the Chapelle’s Show “Lost Episodes.” As for them being a “five-part series,” the episodes are unrelated with the exception of all of them being on the same DVD.
