“In a 147-0 vote, the Texas House moved unanimously to expel Republican state representative Bryan Slaton from office on Tuesday following recent revelations of impropriety involving the Republican lawmaker and a 19-year-old aide.
“The expulsion marks the first time a Texas state lawmaker has been expelled from the House since 1927, according The Texas Tribune’s Robert Downen, and comes a day after the Royse City lawmaker tendered his resignation to Texas Governor Greg Abbott in the face of mounting pressure from former allies.
“A month has passed since complaints first surfaced accusing the former District 2 representative of sexual misconduct with a 19-year-old intern.”
