What Is Blackout Tuesday 2020? Video | The Music Industry Goes Silent

22 sec read

Today, Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020, has been labelled Blackout Tuesday. A day to reflect on racial inequality and injustice.

Blackout Tuesday was started within the music industry, with record labels and radio stations going silent or marking the occasion in some other way. But it has moved into other areas.

What can you do to mark Blackout Tuesday? You can forego posting yet another selfie on Instagram or an opinion on Twitter, and post a black square instead.

However, there’s a request to not use the #BLM and #BlackLivesMatter hashtags for fear all of the Blackout Tuesday posts will silence important information.
