This video shows Mitch Hedberg performing on stage at Just For Laughs in the years before he succumbed to drugs and died in his hotel room.
I can’t say I was ever a fan of Hedberg. In fact, I don’t think I was even aware of him while he was alive. Some of his one-liners are cracking, but the strange stage presence is too off putting.
I’m the same way about Bill Hicks. He was a comedian, fine, and he was funny at times, fine, but he doesn’t deserve the cult status that he seems to have been arbitrarily awarded with.
I guess this is true of all those who die young. The amount of talent they exhibited in their short lives is somewhat blown out of proportion.
