Educating People Online With The Futures Channel | An Online Television Channel For Teachers & Students

Futures Channel LogoThe Futures Channel bills itself as “Connecting learning to the real world.” That description of what the channel does is not only true; it doesn’t go far enough in describing the service it offers to educators and students alike.

If you visit The Futures Channel you’ll find yourself faced with a number of categories, each offering a number of educational but interesting videos for you to watch.

These categories range from animals, science and technology, and mathematics. Clicking on your category of choice will then bring up a number of short videos on that particular subject.

As an example, I clicked on science and technology and was given the option of watching videos discussing robotics, satellites and the physics behind roller coasters.

Even though I’m in my 30s, I’m still fascinated by how everyday things work and I soaked up the information like a sponge.

The way the videos are presented helps a great deal, with a real person discussing sometimes complex subjects in layman’s terms easy enough for people with no prior knowledge of the topic to understand.

I sat and watched a good 10 videos on this channel, and was fascinated by them all. It’s a great multimedia way of teaching people and helping educators teach in this 21st century world we live in.
